WSP goes from strength to strength - as well as having a recent website overhaul, they've just put out a new batch of releases as a Christmas gift to the public. There are 5 releases by 6 bands, repping the best in underground art-rock from the Glasgow scene, including FUCKNO act Blue Sabbath Black Fiji. So, if you were paying attention back in April, the name Headless Kamikaze should be familiar - he was one of the featured acts on our FUCKNO compilation. Alexander Kibanov is from Russia and makes short, angry spazblip that is only slightly reminiscent of Napalm Death mincing a warehouse full of old Casios. Alexander has almost called it a day on making music, and we are proud to be able to present one of his last ever releases. With nearly 40 tunes, it's a compilation of rare tracks, unreleased material, and as the title would suggest, b-sides. ATR fans should definitely check this out.

Well, there's been a bit of a change of plan to our proposed Art School NORAVE residency. The Arty now want us do it on a weekend night on a monthly basis. These details are being finalised as I write.
We will still be holding the Freshers Party in the Vic Bar on Wednesday September 15th, as previously advertised, with special guests (and Shallow Rave favourites) Ben Butler & Mouse Pad (live), Blood Of The Bull (live), Dam Mantle (dj set) and Team Little Rock djs. Doors open at 9pm and close at 2am, and entry is £3 or FREE if you are a student at the GSA. Huzzah!
There will be free CDs for the first 50 folk in the door (as usual at Little Rock gigs) and I have put together a special promo mix for the night too, called "Bring The Noise". This is pretty different to what I normally DJ, with 10 tunes in 20 minutes, and showcases my more eclectic/noisy leanings. There's some metal in here btw - but you can still dance to it:

Do you wear leather shoes?
I have 1 pair. I bought them in France because they looked like something Scott Walker would have had in 1966. Other than that, not really. And they so didn't make me look like Scott Walker.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Elliott Smith (we liked him way before he was deceased) I 'spose, Mary Timony/Helium; I really love Broadcast as well. And the person I mentioned in the previous question.
Any releases in the pipeline?
Wait for Early 2011. We're both putting a lot of time into other bands at the moment. When it happens it'll very likely be on the winning sperm party site...
How's Divorce going?
Good, good. They were all here in the room with me about 45 minutes ago. I'm not shitting you. We're on tour in September. We're all still as ugly and unwashed as you remember us.
How does BotB differ from your other bands?
Well, none of them share the same members. Phat Trophies is carnival/funeral music, Divorce sounds like a divorce. If BotB sounded like a divorce at a funeral that would be really exciting but I don't think we do... If you could be in any band in the history of music, who would it be?
I would be in Scott Walker.

It's our 3rd birthday here at Little Rock, so to celebrate we have a few freebies coming your way over the next week. We are delighted to present some words from Mr Lachlann Rattray, formerly one half of Gay Against You, solo recording artist as Yoko, Oh No!, FUCKNO contributor as Average Joe Stalin, and creator of some awesome art-based fanzines. His latest is "Vomit Party," which we have mentioned before.
What is a "vomit party"? A a vomit party or to give it it's full title "Heavy metal vomit party" is somewhere that one might take Allyson on a first date.
Have you ever been to one? I don't think so I was nearly at one once but it turned out to be a recital of Brahms.
Who is your favourite Star Trek character? And why? That is pretty tricky, but I guess it would have to Worf, He is a totally straight up dude, he is a mans mans mans. But he has a soft side plus he gets the best lines. Observe:
What do you use to create your art? Besides my incredible intellect I also use photoshop, and sometimes sweet home 3D for cool 3d movies. But as is the case with most if not all creative acts its not your tools it's what you do with them (and also how you look).
Who are biggest inspirations art-wise? Hmm... I guess in terms of artists I look up to I would say Paul Laffoley, Jim Woodring Ross Christie, Arran Ridley and Mehdi Hercberg. The art I like tends to be stuff that makes me laugh or that has that awesome quality of being really good but also making me feel like I could do it too., that's what really inspires me.
How about for music? My musical taste is constantly changing (I was going to say evolving but that would imply progression, I think I'm the opposite). At the moment I am really in to the Blue Oyster Cult, Magama , Ruins and Cardiacs, but if you ask me again in a month it will be different.
What was the best gig you have ever played? I played a show a while ago where I baked a cake during the performance using a microwave I brought with me. The whole show ended with everyone eating the cake it was pretty fun, the cake was a bit rank though and apparently someone spat in the mixture while I wasn't looking, fun times!
And the worst? Hmmm maybe a show gay against you played at the art school nearly got beaten up for handing someone a bit of paper, the whole show was really aggro, bad times.
Lady Gaga or Ke$ha? And why? I guess Lady Gaga, her songs are pretty great and all I have heard of ke$ha is that annoying spotify ad but I fully accept that I am not giving ke$ha a thorough reveue and that my conclusion is half baked.
What does the future hold for Lachlann Rattray? Besides the gradual withering and decay of body and my inevitable slide towards death? I hope to make lots more artwork getting commisioned by folks to make there posters and artwork for albums is always fun, I'm also getting into politcal cartooning(http://theworldpolitical.tumblr.com/) which is also lots of fun

We've chatted about Ultimate Thrush repeatedly on the radio, in person and on here, and it's fair to say they're one of our absolute favourite local bands. Another of Glasgow's D.I.Y. and experimental scene, they released a 13 minute, ten track album through Winning Sperm Party, as well as a gorgeous, limited edition tape through Milk Records.
One of our most enduring memories of Ultimate Thrush was prepping the next act at our NORAVE deletion party in the backstage area, when their vocalist burst, mid-song, through the door. Dressed in a robe and rubber mask, and still holding his microphone, he climbed screaming onto me, then ran back to performing.
Spiritual and touring brothers with Divorce, they're a far more spastic and noise-driven proposition, but equally as devastating live. For FUCKNO, we've used the audio from their live performance at Optimo back in December, which, raw as it is, gives a pretty good impression of how chaotic they are live. But we're not through with the countdown yet, no siree Bob. Here's a track from well known Glasgow alt-guitar-noise heroes Vars Of Litchi. Vars play loose, improvised alt-rock on guitar and drums, and have been kicking out the jams in Glasgow and around the UK for a few years now. "There's Movement From The Kitchen" is taken from their forthcoming album, and is remiscent of Lee Ranaldo and Billy Cobham on shitloads of psychedelics jamming in a washing machine. Enjoy!

Mr Cuneen, who also moonlights as one half of the Dam Mantle live experience, almost didn't get this to us in time (the clock has been ticking!) but we are overflowing with joy that we can now get him and his scuzzed-up lo-fi hip-hop sound onto the compilation. The break in this tune is naggingly famiiar - any ideas as to what it might be?
Gummy Stumps have been knocking around the Glasgow scene for a few years now - they played with us at Rock'n'Shock 3 all the way back in the dark days of 2006. Comprised of an ex-member of Tigersushi's nowave merchants Park Attack, and fronted by the legendary Glasgow character "Spicy" Colin, Gummy Stumps make a kind of Fallian racket - but The Fall with a large rocket wedged up their arse and the door outlook of Glasgow (as opposed to the sunny disposition of Manchester). And yes they are as good as that sounds. They are in fact awesome!
We're very happy to be able to offer you lot the first track on the upcoming Gummy Stumps debut album release, a track called "Piecemeal". The album is called "Thwarted Mirth" and is a collection of Gummy tracks from the last 3 years.
