Dam Mantle Live

purplearrow/rebong live by dammantle
We reviewed the EP a wee while back, and have been trying to get a decent live recording for Vishnu knows how long... Dam Mantle are without doubt one of our favourite Glaswegian acts at the moment. A fushion of wonk-hop, down-tempo electronica, and indie surrealness, they've just completed a tour with Gold Panda and Seams, and played at Stag And Dagger this weekend. We thought we'd share the above live excerpt (Purple Arrow available on FUCKNO, Rebong available via DamMantle.com) and this awesome photo of Callum Cunneen aka Louts during Dam Mantle's live performances.

****** EDIT *******

From our pals at the Slutty Fringe blog - Dam Mantle has done them a half-hour mix of general post-crunkiness. It is rather good. There's more info on this page but if you want straight at it here's the link: http://www.sluttyfringe.com/media/mix_series/slutty_fringe_mix_series_4_dam_mantle.mp3

Countdown to FUCKNO Part 29 LOUTS

You will know of Louts by now, surely? He and Fox Gut Daata released a split download 7 on Little Rock last year, as part of the second birthday giveaway bonanza. See the little box just above this and to the right that says "Stuff We've Done"? Well click on Releases and it's in there.

Mr Cuneen, who also moonlights as one half of the Dam Mantle live experience, almost didn't get this to us in time (the clock has been ticking!) but we are overflowing with joy that we can now get him and his scuzzed-up lo-fi hip-hop sound onto the compilation. The break in this tune is naggingly famiiar - any ideas as to what it might be?

Louts mixtape for Halleluwah Hits

Glasgow independant music store Halleluwah Hits (located deep in the heart of Che Camille) have just released the fifth in an ongoing series of mixtapes. This one is by Little Rock recording artist / Cry Parrot co-organiser Callum Cunneen aka LOUTS. It's a mixture of wonky hip-hop, ambient and a bit of alt-rock for good measure, and damn fine it is too. Check it out y'y'y'y'all:
