Free Ghostpoet download

In his own words... Free to download after 1000 reposts.
‘MSI ‪MUSMID ’ pronounced " ‪M S I" " ‪MUS" "MID" "is a track based on a dream I had where dimsum and noodles were life-long friends who kept squabbling all the time...I try in vain to make sense of it all.”

Sun Electric - O'Locco (Sei A Remix)

I currently have something of a fan-stiffy for Apollo Records, R&S' ambient sublabel, following their re-emergence as a major player last year, and Sei A's delicate rework of Sun Electric is perfect music for the early spring we're (apparently) getting. Fresh, cold and delicate, with fingers of light peaking through.

Download - Nickel Remix of the XX

Like pretty much everything else they've done, it's been nigh-impossible to avoid the XX's most recent single Chained, but I've got admit this remix from Nickel's actually pretty enjoyable, shooting the floaty pop-melodies through with a solid techno beat, and aiming for the dancefloors. Free tuneage right here.

Jack Dixon - 1 EP (free download)

Techno/ house producer Jack Dixon has a wealth of releases under his belt, via a number of hi-quality record labels - we dig free music and we dig his work, so check this 3-track EP out. Combining spectral atmospherics and wonky percussion, it's an enjoyably diverse set of tracks.
Get it here.

Warlock - Pocket Dancing

Shallowrave likes Warlock. The head of Rag and Bone is, at heart, an old school rave DJ who, when booked for a party the night before Halloween, was confused as to why the hell everyone was so heavily costumed. Hadn't got a clue, but he still tore it up. Good times.
Now he makes some juke / rave type stuff. Nice.

Robert Hood - Minus (Combo re-edit)

I had this track years ago, lost it, and then found that if I just google it, the guy's soundcloud comes up, with a 320 bitrate and everything. Lovely free music.

All I have are #FEELINGS

#FEELINGS is a party/art collective/digital label based in Austin, Texas, headed up by one Ben Aqua. They claim to be "INFLUENCED BY THE INTERNET, SUBWOOFERS, FAKE METALLIC TEETH, HYBRID CLONED ANIMALS, PSYCHOLOGICAL POST HUMAN WARFARE, SHY #HATERS, EURO CLUB CULTURE FROM THE YEAR 2525, TUMBLR, CONCEPTUAL METAPHORIC ORGASMS"

The #FEELINGS sound is electronic music for cutting-edge underground dance parties, with a real juke/booty-bass/vogue/bounce influence. They are currently on to their third release, 8 tracks of cunt by Ynfynyt Scroll ("cunt" is music for the modern vogue/ballroom scene, like tribal house from the 90s stripped back to it's sheer basics and injected with some hyperactive beats and a nasty strain of bass. It's raw music for dancing to; "dramatics" as they call it, when drag queens whip their weaves in each others' faces. As you can probably guess, I love it!).

#FEELINGS have a couple of "horror juke" releases in the pipeline, but in the meantime I recommend you check out their Soundcloud (you can hear Ynfynyt Scroll there, as well as excellent releases from Lotic and Mama Testa). Or you could just grab these free tracks:

M83 "Midnight City" Disco Wobblez Bootleg

You know how you get email updates from Soundcloud telling you random folk you've never heard of have "shared" tracks with you? This is one of those.

You know that French-electro style that peaked around the height of Nu-Rave but is vaguely voguish again because of the film Drive? This is one of those.

You know people who unofficially remix tracks by better known artists in the hope of getting more attention? This is one of those.

You know those pleasant surprises you get when something you expect to be cack turns out to be actually pretty decent? This is one of those.

Special School - Wilbur & Orville (free download)

Special School - The Album

Brighton's finest, MC Elemental, busts out another album of completely ludicrious steampunk/ fantasy / pulp crime inflected hip-hop backed up with solid beats and a totally screwy sense of humour, this time teaming up with Jon Clark and DJ Maxwell under the Special Schools moniker. Its.... well, hard to properly describe. Essentially, if you think that any one narrative is instantly and constantly improved by the gratuitous addition of zombies, monkeys, insanely humongous giant mecha, doomsday devices, crumpets, jam, cigars, aliens, mustache wax, pseudo-history and references to really awful 80s action movies, this will probably keep you entertained for a good while.

You can buy the album for a mere £5 over at Elemental's homepage, or for those a little uncertain what they're getting into (who they? - Ed), you can download Wilbur and Orville from This Link to give you a taste of what to expect.

Moritz Von Oswald & Tikiman @ Subclub

Ahem, excuse me if I have a little "Squee" moment to myself.

The last time they played the subby (back when they were still Rhythm and Sound, along with Mark Ernestus) I was persuaded by friends, amidst much arguing, that Hawtin at the Arches was the best thing we could do with our Friday night. Not knowing that Pressure endlessly repeated their massive headliners year after year - Hawtin being the big hitter for a good couple of Septembers in a row - and this wasn't exactly a one-chance-only night, I shelled out £20 bucks on the Arches. Not awful, but hardly the best. Plus, being forced to hang out in the middle arch for (pet hate) DJ Sneak's hands-in-the-air hook-fest really shat on my night in a way that none of my crazy-eyed, jaw-twitching, flailing mates could fathom.

Anyway, Slam-bashing aside. Moritz Von Oswald has been behind some of the most awesome dub and techno for well over 20 years, from Wackies, to Chain Reaction, to the M-series and Main Street Records, whilst Paul St Hilarie / Tikiman has what is best described as a phenomenal voice. And they're playing in a 400-capacity club with a monster soundsystem, whose only real failing is the absence of a decent pint.

Do we really need to tell you why this is going to be completely and utterly epic?

Off to get ticket tomorrow.

Com Truise - Polyhurt (Free Download)

Polyhurt
To celebrate the release of Com Truise's debut album, Galactic Melt, Ghostly International are giving away Polyhurt, a slice of loping, aquatic electro-psychedelia that swoops and smashes over the listener. Com Truise (aka Seth Haley) has been making music for over a decade now under various monikers, and this particular creation produces heavy, somnambulist shoegaze, channelled through walls or distortion and heavy analogue synth sounds - kinda like the Cocteaus Twins given an arsenal of Roland kit and forced to listen to acid techno perpetually.

Galactic Melt is available on CD and double pack vinyl from the 4th of July.
