Young Fathers - Fevers Worse (Blessings remix)

Once upon a time, there was a band called De La Soul, whose spectacular blend of high-camp, funk riffs, boom-bap and lyrical acrobatics influenced generations of musicians and truly defined 90s hip-hop. If this is news to you, you'll be bowled over by the Young Fathers, an Edinburgh-based hip-hop act who seem to have nailed everything from the psychedelic golf wear, to the body-popping riddims, to the infectious hooks of Native Tongues' finest.

For anyone else, Young Fathers are one of the most stupidly entertaining Scottish hip-hop acts out there, brimming with wicked hooks, freewheeling verse and crisp boom-bap, they dress like Andre 3000 and sound like Too Live Crew colliding with the Wiggles. Awshum.

Their new single Fevers Worse (out now) has been reworked by fellow Scottish faves and LuckyMe staple The Blessings. We've got it right here for you to download. Get it in the boomboxes.

I'm sure everyone (in Glasgow at least) already knows who LuckyMe are: Hudmo, Rustie, art / music collective, Eclair Fifi etc. Massively hyped and with some really quality work to their name, I've just come across the soundcloud of Dom Sum and Fine Art, two of the collective's founding members.
It's a lot of what you expect - tracing the dots between purple wow synths, swung garage / hip-hop rhythms, lush melodies and deep bass. I actually think this is one of my favourite things to emerge from the LuckyMe stable so far; it fills in a lot of the gaps that HudMo's lysergic hip-hop often left...

Mount Heart Attack are one of Glasgow's finest nights, spinning a twisted mix of wonk, techno, garage and everything in between, they bang the hell out of La Cheetah (Max's Kansas City) once a month. Last month saw the legendary Jason Leach knock the fuck out of it, and this saturday sees them bringing Ben Pest and 3d!t along for the party (11-3, 7/8bucks.) For now, Resident Lono's put together a surreal mix of country, electro, garage and wha? Awesome.

Twitch Mixing for LuckyMe
You don't really need to be told much about LuckyMe / Ballers Social at the moment - they're deservedly media darlings, and put out HudMo's first big hit before Warp snapped him up. However, their mixtape series is awesome and is up to the 70th now, including Rustie, HudMo, Hrdvision and more. I've just got round downloading Twitch's mix for them, and it's awesome.
