New Mixes - Miaoux Miaoux/Ben Butler/Andy Blake

There's a few new mixes by friends of Shallow Rave/Little Rock floating around at the mo, so rather than putting up individual posts, here's one post to rule them all and bind them.

Miaoux Miaoux's latest mix (Miaouxmix 9) is up now on Mixcloud, hot on the heels of Miaouxmix 8. It covers the ground between electronica, techno and bass, and features tunes from James Holden, Autechre, Pantha Du Prince, Burial & Four Tet, Speedy J and more.

Ben Butler & Mousepad have a new mix up on Soundcloud, called "Moving Sounds Mixtape". Described by the man himself as "library bruton kpm pastoral synth cosmic weirdo". It features a bunch of people you've never heard of, but it's chock full of lush, vintage electronic goodness.

And finally Andy Blake (Dissident/Cave Paintings) has a new promo mix for his World Unknown night with Joe Hart in London, called "This Ain't No Disco For A World Unknown", hosted by the Cosmic Disco website. There is no tracklisting for this yet, but it brimming with lots of synthy-post-disco and a smattering of sleazy sax. There's a whole load more mixes at the World Unknown webiste, by Andy and Joe, and the next WU night is this Friday at a secret Brixton location (NOT the one advertised below).

Cave Paintings 1x & 1y

As you will have read before on Shallow Rave, Andy Blake of Dissident Distribution renown is setting up a new label. In the past he has released records by favourites of ours like Ali Renault, Hard Ton, Gatto Fritto, and of course the Niallist. His new venture promises to something very different though, as each release HAS to have been made on analogue gear and done live in one take. Brave move!

We're pleased to be able to present for our readers excerpts from the two tracks on the first Cave Paintings 12", titled very minimally 1x and 1y. Both tunes are well over the ten minute mark, so what we give you here are editted versions to ensure you go out and buy the actual record. Keep vinyl alive!

I can't believe it's not Dissident

From Resident Advisor....

"Less than a year after closing his acclaimed Dissident label, London-based DJ and producer Andy Blake has set up a new imprint called Cave Paintings.

Primarily a platform for Blake's own releases, the label will be run with a no-frills approach: all tracks will be recorded live in one take on analog gear, and releases will be available exclusively on vinyl. Chatting via email earlier this week, Blake filled us in on what the new imprint is all about:"

Will he be smart enough to bring The Niallist aka House Machine to follow up his successful Dissident releases Remember and The Hots? Will there be more Ali "God, he's awesome" Renault? More Binary Chaffinch aka Kruton? Or will we be seeing an entirely new crop of analogue musicians ripping it up?
Time will tell.
