John Kameel Farah



John Kameel Farah is not someone we know much about here, but he has popped up on the PR radar recently, and I like his music a lot. He's a classically trained Canadian musician who marries experimental piano with the sounds of pre-breakcore beat troublers like Squarepusher and Aomn Tobin.

Of course, you have to like the sound of a piano to dig this, but thankfully I do. He's got a couple of gigs coming up in London and Brighton in about a week, but none in Scotland unfortunately. In the meantime though his "England Mix 1550-2011" is definitely worth checking out, featuring as it does the likes of Akufen and Deerhoof getting cosy with Debussy and William Boyd.
